What are Washers & Spacers?

Washers can be used for a number of industrial applications. Basic Washers such as Flat Washers can be used for spacing, protection, or for aesthetic purposes. A wide range of specialist Washers are also available:

Shim Washers

Shim Washers are manufactured in ultra-precise thicknesses, and are designed for highly accurate spacing and very precise height adjustments.

Locking Washers

Internal Locking Washers are the most common component in this range, and are designed with a circumference of serrated teeth, which lock in place after installation, preventing loosening under vibration. External Locking Washers are also available, as well as Fine Toothed Internal Washers and Fine Toothed External Washers.

Sealing Washers

Sealing Washers are curved washers which feature a large EPDM rubber seal on their underside. Sealing Washers have a number of uses, but are generally used to create airtight or watertight seals, and are commonly used in roofing applications. 

Captive Washers

Accu offers a full standard range of Captive Washers. Captive Washers are specially designed for use with Accu's wide range of Captive Screws. A captive fastening locks in place after installation, creating a fastening which can be taken out of a hole, but not fully removed from an installation.

Materials

Many of Accu’s Washers can be manufactured from our full range of engineering materials. In addition to corrosion-resistant Stainless Steels, Aluminum, Brass, Phosphor Bronze and the engineering plastic PEEK are available.

Washer Sizing

Washers are manufactured in a wide range of sizes to suit our standard range of High-Precision Screws, from M1 up to M56. Imperial sizes of between No. 0 and 2 inch are also available.
