Accu Sponsors Staffordshire Uni Racing Formula Student Team

Staffordshire University Racing team in action at Formula StudentAccu is proud to announce that we will be supporting the Staffordshire University Racing (SUR) team for the 2022-23 academic year. The team is working hard to design and build a single-seater race car capable of competing with other UK university racing teams in the IMechE Formula Student 2023 competition.

Following the 2022 competition in which the team won the fastest lap - despite the car being considered a heavy vehicle in the FS ranking - before going on to achieve an overall 4th place finish, SUR are looking forward to improving even further this season.

With their long term vision to run a car with a full aero package, carbon monocoque chassis and eventually venture into the EV category, Accu will be sponsoring the team, working closely to help them achieve their targets.

Tapping into our vast range of precision engineering components, combined with our library of CAD models helping to ensure that the car's digital twin is identical to real life to improve on equating the simulations to real-world results, we feel that we can help the team to improve their designs better than ever before.

The year ahead brings new focuses for SUR, including implementing a new aluminium backplate design, moving towards lighter materials and components, (i.e. lighter Drexler differential, carbon fibre components, reduced bodywork mass) as well as becoming more in tune with data acquisition software to produce viable and reliable performance results.

We can’t wait to hear all about their progress using our components to build their new race car and wish them the best of luck on the run up to Formula Student 2023.
