Mayor of West Yorkshire Visits Accu

Last Wednesday, the 5th of February, we were thrilled to welcome Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire to our brand-new headquarters in Brockholes, Huddersfield.

Her visit couldn’t have come at a more exciting time as we continue our incredible growth journey following a game-changing £1 million investment into our state-of-the-art 45,000 sq ft facility. This isn’t just about expanding our footprint; it’s about revolutionising the way we serve our customers, pushing the boundaries of precision engineering and gearing up for even bigger things ahead.

Tour Highlights and Employee Engagement

During her visit, Mayor Brabin had the opportunity to explore our new facilities and meet some of the talented individuals who make TeamAccu what it is today. A highlight of the tour was her conversations with our award-winning apprentices from the Accu Academy. We take immense pride in fostering the next generation of engineering talent. It was fantastic to show the Mayor how our apprenticeship programme is shaping the industry's future and supporting the Huddersfield area.

“Accu’s investment in our region is creating more well-paid jobs for local people to thrive in a stronger, brighter West Yorkshire.”

Mayor Brabin enthusiastically recognised the vital role Accu plays in reinforcing West Yorkshire’s status as a centre for manufacturing and engineering excellence.

She praised our investment in high-quality job creation and economic development, highlighting our commitment to progressive employment practices.

One initiative that particularly stood out was our four-day working week, which has not only increased productivity but also enhanced the well-being of our team.

Future Prospects and Community Engagement

Looking ahead to 2025, we have ambitious plans to expand our product lines, focusing on specialist, hard-to-source components across a wide array of materials and grades. Our goal is to develop our extensive product offering of over 500,000 unique components, welcoming more than 2,500 new customers every week.

Beyond our business growth, we are deeply committed to giving back to the community. Through the AccuFoundation initiative, our team members can actively contribute to charitable causes, supporting organisations such as The Kirkwood, Hollybank Trust, Forget Me Not Hospice and the RSPCA. We’re also excited about our recent partnership with Huddersfield Town Football Club as their Official Engineering Partner for the 2024/25 season, reinforcing our support for local initiatives.

“Accu is a truly global business but employing and nurturing a local workforce and, in turn, supporting our local economy, is hugely important to how we operate. We are proud to be based here and to be able to give back, through our charitable arm, the AccuFoundation and by encouraging employees to volunteer in the local community.”
