Critical Load
When using compression loaded Trapezoidal Lead Screws and Nuts, calculations must be made to find the maximum possible load, which helps to prevents screws from bending or being damaged under excessive axial pressure. The maximum axial load depends on the core diameter (d3) of the screw, the end constraints (bearings), and the free length ‘le’.
When analysing the values found in graph No. 6, allow a minimum safety factor of ≥ 2.
