Trapezoidal Leadscrews.
What are Trapezoidal Leadscrews?
Trapezoidal Leadscrews, sometimes simply called 'Trapezoidal Threaded Rod' or 'Trapezoidal Threaded Bar' (not to be confused with Accu's Threaded Bar range) feature a helical metric thread which is designed to drive a Trapezoidal Leadscrew Nut along its length, converting rotary motion into highly precise linear actuation. Leadscrew mechanisms are used in a large range of appliances, and are commonly found within printers, lathes, CNC machines, as well as in high-articulation robotics.
The 30° trapezoidal tooth profile of these components provides enhanced tooth strength when compared to square toothed lead screws.
Accu also offer a diverse array of Cylindrical, Hexagonal, and Flanged Trapezoidal Leadscrew Nuts, which are designed for use in a variety of low-resistance, high-precision actuation purposes.
Trapezoidal Leadscrew Manufacture Process.
Accu's Trapezoidal Leadscrews are cold rolled, increasing surface hardness and providing exceptional levels of accuracy during the manufacturing process. Each Leadscrew is rolled in multiple phases, with gradually increasing pressure. By repeating this process, the screw is hardened into a highly precise and smooth finish. Our precision rolling techniques guarantee lead accuracies of 200µm/300mm.
Trapezoidal Leadscrew Sizing.
Trapezoidal Leadscrews are manufactured in accordance with ISO standards, with leads of between 3mm and 10mm, diameters of between 10mm and 80mm, and lengths of up to 3000mm.

Trapezoidal Leadscrew Materials.
Accu's Trapezoidal Leadscrews are available in a variety of materials, including C15 and C45 Carbon Steel, 18-8 / 304 Stainless Steel, and Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel. Carbon Steels are more resistant to wear and are easier to machine than Stainless Steel Leadscrews, but Stainless Steel Leadscrews are much more resistant to corrosion.
C15 Carbon Steel Leadscrews (1.1141/EN 10084).
Trapezoidal Leadscrews can also be manufactured from C15 Carbon Steel, which has a surface hardness of approximately 160-180 HB. C15 Carbon Steel Leadscrews are less brittle than C45 Carbon Steel components due to a lower carbon content (0.15%), resulting in fewer impurities in the material's composition. C15 Carbon Steel makes these components the most easily machined Leadscrews within this range.
C45 Carbon Steel Leadscrews (1.0503/EN 10083-2).
C45 Carbon Steel Trapezoidal Leadscrews have a surface hardness of approximately 250 HB. A C45 Carbon Steel Leadscrew contains 0.45% carbon, and is harder, denser, and more resistant to wear than an equivalent C15 Carbon Steel Leadscrew.
18-8 / 304 Stainless Steel Leadscrews (1.4301/AISI 304).
Accu's 18-8 / 304 Stainless Steel Trapezoidal Leadscrews have a surface hardness of approximately 260 HB. 18-8 / 304 Stainless Steel Leadscrews are ideal for use in environments where minor corrosion must be prevented.
316 Stainless Steel Leadscrews (1.4401/AISI 316).
Our 316 Stainless Steel Trapezoidal Leadscrews have a surface hardness of 280 HB. 316 Stainless Steel is commonly known as 'Marine Grade' Stainless Steel, due to its excellent resistant to and fresh water and salt water. 316 Stainless Steel Leadscrews are the most corrosion-resistant components in Accu's Trapezoidal Leadscrew range.
