Spur Gears are intended for the simple transmission of rotary motion between two parallel shafts, and can be used in different gear ratios to alter the speed and torque of a mechanism. They can also be used in a rack and pinion system to turn rotary motion into linear motion.
These gears are a ring shape with teeth on the internal surface to allow spur gears to rotate inside them, forming a planetary gear system.
They are designed to minimise the amount of backlash, also known as clearance or play between gears. The teeth mesh tightly together to eliminate the effect of variations in centre distance, tooth dimensions and bearing eccentricities.
