What are Self Drilling Screws?

Self Drilling Screws, are part of Accu's range of Drilling and Tapping Fasteners. These screws feature a specialist tip and thread configuration, which is designed to both bore and tap its own hole in one operation. Self-Drilling Fasteners are primarily designed for use with metals or plastics.

Self Drilling Screws.

Self drilling screws feature an inbuilt drill bit, designed to cut into material and make a hole. This hole can then be tapped by the thread of the screw, which allows for install in a simple, fast process.

Sometimes confusion arises from the fact that self drilling screws are, technically, both self drilling and self tapping, as they first create an unthreaded hole, which is then tapped by the thread of the screw.

Self-Drilling Screws are available in A2 Stainless Steel as standard, with Chemical Matte Black Coatings available on customer request.

Self-Drilling Screws Sizing.

Fasteners within this range are available in self-drilling thread sizes from No. 4 up to No. 14. Lengths of between 9.5mm and 150mm are also available.
