What are High Nylon Locking Nuts?
High Nylon Locking Nuts (also called Thick Nyloc Nuts) are a type of prevailing torque nut, featuring a polymer insert designed to prevent loosening and enhance friction over the threaded surface of a screw.
These components feature an elongated design over standard Nylon Locking Nuts, which allows for greater thread engagement and a more secure fastening.
High Nyloc Nuts are commonly used in automotive and machinery applications and are capable of maintaining their locking ability up to 121 °C (250°F).
For an all-metal locking nut alternative suitable for high temperature environments, see Accu's Aerotight Locking Nuts range.
Materials.
High Nylon Locking Nuts are available from Accu in both A2 and A4 Marine Stainless Steel. Grade 8 and Grade 10 Carbon Steel variants are also in stock, with either a Zinc Plated or Zinc and Yellow Passivated finish.

Manufactured to the DIN 982 standard (The DIN standard remains common in Germany and Europe even though the transition to ISO standards is taking place. DIN standards continue to be used for parts which do not have ISO equivalents or for which there is no need for standardization. In this case the ISO
equivalent for a DIN 982 is DIN EN ISO 7040), Accu’s Thick Nylon Insert Nuts are available in metric sizes of between M4 and M24.
