Screws With Precote 80

What are Screws With Precote 80?

Screws with Precote 80 are performance fasteners featuring a pre-applied microencapsulated thread-locker that provides exceptional resistance to loosening caused by vibration and dynamic loads, complete with its industry leading corrosion and thermal resistance profile. These screws are designed for one-time use and create a secure, permanent lock once installed, making them ideal for critical applications where long-term stability is required with exceptional material performance. If you need a non-permanent bond see our full range of Thread-Locking Screws

How Precote 80 Works

Precote 80 utilises a unique microencapsulated acrylate adhesive that is pre-applied to the threads of the screw. During installation, the pressure of tightening ruptures the microcapsules, releasing the adhesive. The adhesive cures in the absence of oxygen and in the presence of metal, ensuring a robust bond that locks the screw securely in place. This process provides a chemical lock that is resistant to extreme vibration and high loads as well as featuring broad thermal and corrosion resistance properties making it ideal for automotive and performance applications.
Precote 80 requires no curing time compared to traditional thread-locking adhesives making it the industry leader in both performance and ease of installation when utilised correctly.

Materials Screws With Precote 80 Are Made From

Screws with Precote 80 are available in an extensive variety of high-quality, professional grade materials to suit different environmental and mechanical requirements.

A2 Stainless Steel.
Our best selling option for general applications, A2 Steel is popular thanks to its low-cost and fantastic corrosion resistance profile.

A4 Marine Stainless Steel.
For environments requiring saltwater and corrosion resistance use A4 marine grade steel. Suited to the marine industry and high-moisture applications.

Titanium (Grade 5).
Our premium option for high-strength applications, Titanium (Grade 5) offers superior strength profiles compared to steel at a significantly reduced weight premium and with an amazing corrosion resistance profile.

High-tensile stainless steels (A2-70, A2-80, A4-70, A4-80).
The go-to option for demanding machine applications where tensile-strength is a must have, our premium steel alloys are suitable for a truly vast range of uses across almost every sector of industry.

FAQs

Q: How does pre-applied Precote 80 work?
A: Precote 80 contains a microencapsulated acrylate adhesive that activates during installation. The tightening process breaks the microcapsules, allowing the adhesive to bond and cure, providing a secure, vibration-resistant lock with best-in-class thermal and chemical resistance profiles.

Q: Is Precote 80 suitable for marine/water environments?
A: Yes, screws with Precote 80 are available in A4 Marine Stainless Stee and other corrosion resistant materials, providing excellent corrosion resistance for use in marine and other harsh environments. While the thread-locker itself is salt-water resistant, be sure to select a screw material with matching characteristics for complete performance.

Q: Which thread lock compound should I choose?
A: Precote 80 is recommended for applications requiring a permanent lock with high resistance to vibration. If reusability or adjustability is needed, alternatives like Anu-Lok 180 or AccuLock may be better suited to your project.
