What are Pop Rivets?

Our wide range of Pop Rivets, also known as Dome Rivets or Blind Rivets, are tubular in design, featuring a nail-like central setting mandrel.

Blind Rivets are inserted into a pre-drilled hole in the panels intended to be fastened together, with the compression force between the mandrel head and the installation tool, such as a Rivet Gun, causing the rivet body to compress and enlarge in diameter. This compresses the panels together between the mandrel head and the head of the Rivet to create a secure, permanent fixture.

Blind Rivets are so called because the installer does not need to see the back of the application during installation. As they are installed from the front only, the installer does not require access to the other side of the structure. They are therefore commonly used for applications which have no or limited access to the back of panels. For example manufacturing cars, electronics, boats and aeroplanes. 

Due to their construction, Pop Rivets provide strong resistance to shear forces (perpendicular to the rivet shaft) and can resist light tensioning loads (parallel to the rivet shaft).

Accu supplies Pop Rivets in 3 distinct head types, with standard Dome Rivets & Flanged Dome Rivets available, along with Countersink Rivets for applications requiring the head of the Rivet to sit flush with the surface of the panels.
