What are Countersunk Rivets?

Countersunk Rivets (also known as Countersunk Blind Rivets are designed to permanently fasten two overlapping surfaces, such as thin sheet metal panels. These components are functionally similar to Dome Rivets, but are specifically designed for use alongside countersunk holes.

Countersunk Rivets are suitable for ‘blind’ installation, meaning they can be installed from just one side. Rivets are designed to provide strong resistance to shear forces (perpendicular to the rivet shaft) and can resist light tensioning loads (parallel to the rivet shaft).

Solid Countersunk Rivets can provide a more durable fastening than standard Countersunk Rivets, but cannot be installed from just one side, making them unsuitable for ‘blind’ installation.

Countersunk Sealed Blind Rivets

The unique features of a Countersunk Sealed Rivet are its locking mandrel (central pin), which creates a vibration-resistant watertight seal when installed, and the Countersunk head of the rivet, designed to sit flush with the mating surface.

Countersunk Lock Structural Blind Rivets

Countersunk Structural Rivets are designed specifically for heavy duty applications, where high shear and tensile strength is needed.

Countersunk Multigrip Blind Rivets

Offering a wider grip range than standard Countersunk Blind Rivets, their Multigrip counterparts are particularly helpful in secondary or irregular size holes.
