PEEK.
Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a semicrystalline engineering thermoplastic, ideal for high-performance applications. PEEK is exceptional in its ability to retain its shape and size, even when operated at high temperatures. Where similar plastics may expand and contract dependent on their temperature, PEEK remains thermally stable under extreme working conditions. As a plastic, PEEK is also an electrical insulator, and is highly resistant to water submersion.
Chemical and Environmental Resistance
PEEK is ideal for use in a wide variety of environments. Compared to alternative thermoplastics, PEEK does not absorb a significant amount of water during submerged operation. Accu’s PEEK range is also highly resistant to a number of chemicals which typically degrade similar engineering plastics. PEEK has good resistance to fuel, hydraulic fluid, lubricants and solvents, making it ideal for a range of applications, including aerospace and automotive purposes.
Self-Extinguishing and Flame Resistant
PEEK’s unique chemical composition makes it exceptionally difficult to ignite, and gives it self-extinguishing properties in a normal atmosphere. These properties, coupled with PEEK’s excellent thermal stability, make PEEK an ideal choice for high-performance, high-temperature applications.
