AccuLock Thread Lock Specifications.

AccuLock thread-locking patches use a special thread lock adhesive for increased friction; resisting loosening, vibrations, and leakage.

Applied as a 360-degree finish on the external threads of precision screws, AccuLock remains viscous at a molecular level allowing it to fill space between threads during installation. The compound remains in this semi-fluid-like state throughout its lifespan to effectively fight against vibrations. For a more heavy-duty thread lock which sets in place, take a look at our Precote 80 thread locking solution.

Widely used in industries like automotive and machinery, it maintains tension and clamping force, particularly in parts exposed to vibrations and temperature fluctuations. AccuLock allows for adjustments over time, is reusable, and doesn't require curing time post-installation, enhancing component life and reducing labour costs.

Gain insight into the critical role of thread lock in engineering by exploring our comprehensive guide "What Is Thread Lock?", a starting point for understanding this essential fastening technology.

AccuLock Thread Locking FAQs.

Q: What thread locking solutions does Accu offer?

A: Accu offers three pre-applied thread locking solutions, each tailored to a specific application type and environmental conditions.
AccuLock is our everyday, reusable option, perfect for general vibration resistance where you still need to easily remove and adjust parts.
For a tighter grip, Anu-Lok 180 is a heavy-duty, reusable patch that provides maximum holding power while still allowing you to safely unscrew and reuse the fastener later. Finally, Precote 80 is our "fit and forget" solution, a high-strength adhesive designed for permanent, non-removable fastenings when you need to lock components securely in place for good.

Q: How are AccuLock thread locking patches applied?

A: All three compounds are applied in-house by Accu’s specialist threadlocking team to an even finish between the threads, providing greater consistency upon installation and saving time on the assembly line. Components are supplied ready to install; no on-site application is needed.

Q: Which components can AccuLock patches be applied to?

A: Thread locking patches can be applied to virtually any metal threaded component in Accu’s range, including male and female threads. Exceptions are components designed for use in wood, plastic screws, assemblies where the patch would interfere with the operating environment and electronics applications where direct thread contact is required for conductivity.
Standard patches are available on Socket Cap Head, Torx Button Head and Torx Pan Head ranges. If you cannot find the component you need with a pre-applied AccuLock patch, get a quote through our Custom Manufacture process.

Technical Specifications.

Q: What screw sizes are AccuLock patches available on?

A: AccuLock is available from M2.5 (minimum thread length 5 mm) up to and including M10. If you need components outside of these standard sizes, submit your request through our Custom Manufacture process.

Q: What is the shelf life of AccuLock thread locking patches?

A: AccuLock patches have an indefinite shelf life when stored out of direct sunlight; the compound is unreactive when exposed to air.

Removal and Reuse.

Q: Are AccuLock thread-locked components reusable?

A: AccuLock components are designed to be reused up to five times. They can be disassembled without heat and readjusted with standard tooling.

Q: Can AccuLock components be removed from an installation?

A: AccuLock does not fuse with mating threads or degrade metals, wood or most plastic housings; components can be removed or readjusted with standard tooling. If you need to remove excess compound when reinstalling patched components, we recommend a microfibre cloth with IPA.

Availability and Ordering.

Q: Does Accu sell AccuLock compound by itself?

A: AccuLock compound is only available as a pre-applied finish on Accu’s components; it is not sold as a standalone product. Any AccuLock specified component in ‘Express Stock’ can be ordered in any quantity as low as a single fastener.

Q: Is AccuLock thread locker available on captive screws?

A: Many of Accu’s standard Captive Screws are available with an AccuLock finish. For captive screws outside of the standard range, contact our Customer Solutions Team or submit a request through our Custom Manufacture process.

Q: Can AccuLock be applied to blackened or custom-finished components?

A: AccuLock patches can be applied to blackened and other custom-finished components, but this is not offered as a standard finish through our online store. Contact our Customer Solutions Team to discuss your requirements and request a bespoke quote.

Q: Can other anti-vibration solutions be used alongside AccuLock patches?

A: Thread locking patches can be used in conjunction with other anti-vibration components, such as locking nuts and anti-vibration washers to further increase resistance to loosening in high-vibration assemblies.
